Zukin Realty is planning a late spring groundbreaking for a new hotel in West Chester.

Zukin Realty is planning a late spring groundbreaking for a new hotel in West Chester, writes Bill Rettew for the Daily Local News.

According to Scott Zukin, the work with the borough and engineers regarding the process of land development has been “very positive.”

The hotel will have between 110 and 120 rooms. It will be the same height as the Chestnut Street Garage, where the owners will rent around 50 spaces to be used primarily at night.

The developer is also planning to work on the Spence Building, near the proposed hotel site. That work will include 11 new apartments.

The new luxury hotel will belong to the Indigo Hotel family, which fully customizes each of the hotels. For example, said Zukin, the Indigo Hotel in Milan truly feels like Italy.

“You’ll know you’re in West Chester when you walk into this Indigo Hotel,” said Zukin.

The hotel was envisioned by Zukin’s father, Stan, who passed away two years ago at the age of 77. The elder Zukin helped spark the revitalization of the borough, owning 35 commercial spaces and around 60 properties in Chester County.
