Headquartered in Audubon, TLC operates across multiple states, providing K-12 alternative education, comprehensive mental and behavioral health services, coaching, counseling, and trauma-informed training.
The Lincoln Center for Family and Youth collaborates with school districts, universities, hospitals, police departments, and nonprofit organizations, offering consultation services to secure federal and state grant funding.
The following positions are available:
Full-Time Science Teacher
The Science Teacher provides academic instruction and socioemotional support to at-risk youth, grades 7-12, in an alternative school setting in the Chester-Upland School District.
In an open, small classroom environment, the Science Teacher must demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in serving the individualized instructional needs of the students assigned to the class.
The Science Teacher must be able to work in a team environment with other educators, special education staff, counselors, and social workers.
The Science Teacher should possess a high degree of authenticity, kindness, and empathy while effectively maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to academic and socioemotional growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
Facilitate Learning
o Develop a classroom culture where the Teacher is viewed as a “facilitator” of the learning process and not a “lecturer.”
o Plans, prepares, and implements lesson plans that facilitate active learning.
o Provides personalized support to each student to develop learning plans that match each student’s needs and abilities.
o Utilizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) techniques.
o Leverages technology to support and differentiate instruction.
o Develops a multi-sensory learning environment.
Facilitate Socioemotional Development
o Provides diverse opportunities to develop and enhance students’ social and emotional skills.
o Promotes the overall wellness (physical, mental, social, emotional) of each student.
Conduct Assessments
o Assigns and grades classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
o Monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust facilitation strategies.
o Maintains accurate and complete records of students’ progress.
Develop Positive Classroom Culture
o Builds positive, compassionate classroom communities that engage learners.
o Implements evidence-based classroom management and positive behavior support strategies.
Other Duties
o Actively participates in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
o Initiates and maintains close contact with parents/guardians of each student.
o Communicates information regularly to students, parents, and districts regarding student progress and student needs.
o Updates all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations.
o Assesses, records, and reports on the development, progress, goal attainment, and behavior of students.
o Attends meetings as scheduled and necessary with counselors, other staff, and other members of the Public School District.

College and Career Counselor
The School-Based Counselor provides (1) mental health therapeutic support, (2) case management, in addition to providing college and career coaching, counseling, mentoring, and tutoring to students at a designated middle school in the Norristown Area School District (NASD) and Pottstown School District in order to meet the requirements of the Gaining Early Awareness and
Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) program.
The GEAR UP program is funded by a U.S. Department of Education grant and provides services and resources to a cohort of students with the goal of increasing high school graduation and college awareness, acceptance, and readiness.
Duties & Responsibilities
Services to Students
o Identify students in need of trauma support and provide prevention, screening, referral, and treatment services to students potentially in need of services.
o Provide counseling interventions (group, individual, and/or family.
o Provide mentoring and other intervention models to children and their families who have experienced trauma or are at risk of experiencing trauma, including those who are low-income, homeless, in foster care, involved in the criminal justice system, unemployed, experiencing a mental illness or substance abuse disorder, or not enrolled in or at risk of dropping out of an
educational institution.
o Provide case management for students and families requiring multiple resources.
o Provide quality trauma support and behavioral health care services.
o Provide home-based services to the families of students who have experienced or are at risk of
experiencing trauma, including those who are low-income, homeless, and involved in the child welfare system
system or involved in the juvenile justice system
Services to School Personnel
o Assist teachers with behavior management strategies.
o Provide staff with essential information to better understand factors (cultural, societal,
economic, familial, health, etc.) affecting a student’s performance and behavior.
o Train school staff on trauma-informed approaches to education to develop safe, stable, and
nurturing learning environments that prevent and mitigate the effects of trauma.
Services to Districts
o Provide consultation regarding school law and school policy, including IDEA and Section 504.
o Assist in developing positive behavioral intervention strategies.
o Assist in developing and implementing educational programs, including programs on safety and
bullying.
o Develop alternative programs for drop-out, truancy, delinquency, etc.
Services to Parents/Families.
o Works with parents to facilitate their support in their children’s school adjustment.
o Alleviate family stress to enable the child to function more effectively in school & community.
o Assist parents in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
o Work with those problems in a child’s living situation that affect the child’s adjustment in
school (home, school, and community).
School-Community Liaison
o Obtain and coordinate community resources to meet students’ needs.
o Provide health services and intervention strategies by coordinating the services provided by
eligible applicants and coordinated care organizations, public health entities, and nonprofit youth
service providers and community-based organizations.
o Foster and promote communication between the school entity, community, and law enforcement.
o Increase access to quality trauma-informed support services and behavioral health care by linking
the community with local trauma support and behavioral health systems.
o Help the school district receive adequate support from social and mental health agencies.
o Advocate for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of students and families.
o Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable the child to learn as effectively as
possible in their educational program.
o Help school districts receive adequate support from social and mental health agencies.

Part-Time Student Support Specialist
Under the supervision of the Program Leader in the Chester-Upland School District, and working as a member of the site/program team, develops and implements an effective behavioral intervention and safety plan for students. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities: School Culture Management
• Manages crisis situations and defuses situations using conflict resolution and crisis management
techniques.
• Works one-on-one with students to affect behavior changes.
• Reinforces appropriate behaviors and redirects negative behaviors.
• Provides values clarification, including rules, expectations, and consequences.
• Implements consequences for inappropriate behavior with proper training.
• Provides interventions to redirect behavior.
• Implements behavioral programs designed to make positive and appropriate changes.
• Assists school staff by participating as a team member in the development and monitoring of
comprehensive behavioral objectives, goals, and plans.
• Develops and implements behavioral interventions within a multi-tier system of supports.
Communication/Consultation
• Works as a team member with teachers, counselors, and other appropriate personnel to establish
positive student contacts that develop appropriate and positive behavior modifications, enabling
students to succeed.
• Provides information to parents, guardians, or other care providers concerning
actions of students.
• Ensures consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with the appropriate student
contacts.
• Monitors physical and emotional changes in students and reports to the appropriate
personnel.
• Consults with teachers, support staff, and administrators to obtain information and advice on
prior behavior problems, and provides information as necessary concerning behavioral concerns.
Program/Staff Support
• Maintains a professional rapport with program/site staff.
• Monitors student behavior changes, assisting with academics as directed by the teacher, and
supervising various activities during the course of the instructional day to maintain a controlled
and a safe environment for students and staff.
• Attends IEP (Individualized Education Program) and student progress meetings as
requested.
• Maintains awareness of fire drill and lockdown procedures and the emergency contingency plan for the
school site.
• Implements the school’s emergency procedures as requested.
• Attends and provides training regarding safety, security, physical interventions, and behavior
management procedures as requested.
• Oversees recreational activities and other learning opportunities as requested.
• Attends program/site team meetings and various school events, including selected sporting
events.
