Grab Your Running Shoes for One of These Chester County Turkey Trots

Chester County residents can fit some joyful movement into their holiday schedule with one of these local turkey trots.

Thanksgiving turkey trots throughout Chester County offer residents the perfect way to find joyful movement while supporting a good cause, write Regan Bradley, Anne E. Hill, Claire Chmiel, and Ben Silver for Main Line Today.

Here are four local races where you can run or walk to support the local community this holiday season.

Chester County Turkey TrotDowningtown. Bright and early on Thanksgiving day, enjoy either a 5k or 2k race through Downingtown. Proceeds benefit the Downingtown West High School cross-country team and Cure4Cam Childhood Cancer Foundation.

West Chester Turkey TrotWest Chester. Run or walk through downtown West Chester on Thanksgiving Day with this West Chester race. The event serves as the borough’s second ever turkey trot with both 5k run and 2k walk options.

Unionville High School Turkey Trot—Kennett Square. On Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27), race this multi-terrain trek with both 5k and one-mile options. The event also serves as a food drive where participants can bring canned goods to donate to the Kennett Food Cupboard.

Phoenixville “Burn Off The Bird” 5K—Phoenixville. Set for Saturday, Nov. 20, this sixteen-year tradition will see participants run or walk down the Schuylkill River Trail. The race will kick off at 9:30 AM at the Phoenixville Recreation Center parking lot with a registration fee of $35.
