Rustin High School Marching Band Dazzles with Artistic Field Show at 6abc

The Rustin High School Marching Band recently showcased their Van Gogh-inspired performance at the 6abc Action News Yard.

The Rustin High School Marching Band recently shone brightly at a performance outside the 6abc studio, reports Maggie Kent for 6abc.

The band performed at the 6abc Action News Yard last Friday. The artistic performance was inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s painting Starry Night.

The Rustin High School Marching Band serves as a competition band while also inspiring school spirit at Friday football games. The fifty-two-member group worked on the performance for months as they now head into the school year and competition season.

Students, band leadership, and 6abc staff all enjoyed the Friday performance. Director Mike Shoremount, who has led the group for twenty years, shared that the band loves being a part of Rustin’s school culture.

Shoremount said, “They love being a part of our school’s quality for culture, our school football games and just embodying school spirit for all of us.”

Perhaps most of all, the students enjoyed seeing their months of hard work finally pay off. Drum major Veda Ambady said, “It’s a really fulfilling thing when you see it all come together, and see how well you’ve grown throughout the past three months.”
