Malvern-based Vanguard Group has named former federal prosecutor Natalie Lamarque as its new chief legal officer, during leadership changes under new CEO Salim Ramji, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Lamarque joins the investment giant from Principal Financial Group, based in Des Moines, Iowa, where she had served as general counsel for the last three years. She succeeds Tonya Robinson, who is leaving Vanguard after a year with the company.
In her new role, she will handle all legal and compliance activities, public policy, and investment stewardship. In addition to her role as chief legal officer, she will serve as managing director of Vanguard’s legal division and secretary of both the Vanguard board of directors and the funds.
“Natalie has spent her career ensuring everyday investors get a fair shake and helping people achieve a secure retirement,” said Ramji. “She is a seasoned executive who brings exceptional legal expertise and a deep understanding of our industry and the global regulatory environment.”
Before joining Principal Financial, Lamarque was senior vice president and general counsel at New York Life Insurance for eight years and previously an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.
