Forbes Ranks Five Companies with Links to Chester County Among America’s Top Employers

A new report by Forbes has ranked the best employers by state. Five companies with ties to Chester County made the list, including Vanguard.

A new report by Forbes has ranked the best employers by state. Out of the 97 employers in Pennsylvania, five companies with ties to Chester County made the list, writes Alan Schwarz for Forbes.  

Forbes partnered with research firm Statista which surveyed 700,000 workers at companies with 500 employees or more across each state in the country.  

Wegman’s Food Markets, which has stores in Chester County, came in at no. 3 on the list. The retail store has 53,000 across the U.S.  

Penn Medicine ranked no. 5 on the list and has 44,254 employees. The institution, founded in 1993, owns Chester County Hospital.  

Malvern-based investment management company Vanguard ranked no. 8 on the list. The company, founded in 1975, has 20,000 employees. 

Microsoft has a large regional office in Malvern and came in at no. 9 on the list. It currently employs 122,000 people nationwide. 

West Chester’s Qurate Retail Group, which owns QVC, ranked no. 38 on the list and currently employs 24,600.
