West Chester native Bam Margera has no plans to return to the Jackass franchise which first skyrocketed him to national fame, writes Jessica Wang for Entertainment Weekly.
Margera confirmed he was finished with the franchise in an interview with CinemaBlend. The decision comes after he was fired from Jackass Forever in 2020 due to his ongoing substance use struggles.
The Jackass franchise began as a slapstick prank and stunt television show in 2000. Several films soon followed, with Margera appearing as a core member of the series.
Following the firing, Margera filed a lawsuit against his former collaborators for wrongful termination. The lawsuit ended in a private settlement the following year.
However, the conflict led Margera to have no desire to return to the series. Margera said, “You couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them. The damage has been done.”
While Margera’s appearances might be over, Jackass creators shared that the future of the film series is open-ended. Last year, creator Johnny Knoxville said that the team is “never saying never” regarding a new installment in the long-running franchise.
