The following position is available:
Community Counselor
The Community Counselor provides in-home individual, family, and group counseling
services in the Norristown area with an emphasis on trauma-informed care.
Primary areas for counseling include parenting issues, therapy with young children and teens, life skills development, supervised visitation, intervention on drug and alcohol issues, and work with children and adults who have been abused physically, sexually, or emotionally.
Counselors must be able and willing to accept a variety of assignments and integrate their work with other TLC
programs and community services.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, family, and group counseling services in the areas identified in the Job Summary. This service may be provided in the office, at homes, or in school settings.
- Meet the specific requirements for TLC counseling positions and follow policies and procedures for those positions; Office of Children and Youth cases, and drug and alcohol counseling.
- Advocate for individuals and family members with health care professionals, legal personnel, service agencies, county departments, and others who are in a position to assist the persons receiving TLC services.
- Monitor the progress of each client through the maintenance of appropriate case records and statistics on the service provided.
- Assist in the planning and revision of programs and help with departmental tasks.
- Provide outreach and facilitate inter-organizational cooperation with community agencies, schools, county services, healthcare professionals, and community groups.
- Attend education/training on topics related to counseling duties.
- Oversee and be responsible for the gathering and reporting of data as required by contracts, grants, or certifying bodies.
Skills:
- Knowledge of multiple therapeutic modalities such as CBT, motivational interviewing, trauma expertise, substance abuse intervention expertise, and excellent collaboration skills.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree preferred. A minimum of two years of related experience, including knowledge of work with children, families, child abuse, and counseling with persons at high risk for drug and alcohol abuse.

Special Education Teacher
The Special Education Teacher position out of Chester comes with a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
The teacher works with students who have a wide range of socioemotional and mental health needs and/or learning disabilities. The Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students, evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives, and follows PA-mandated due process procedures and functions as the IEP Manager to assigned students.
The Special Education Teacher must be able to work in a team environment with other educators, special education staff, counselors, and social workers. The Special Education Teacher should possess a high degree of authenticity, kindness, and empathy while effectively maintaining an environment conducive to academic and socioemotional growth.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with students in grades 7-12 who have a wide variety of socioemotional and mental health needs and/or learning disabilities.
- Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans.
- Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities.
- Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one.
- Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
- Establish and maintain student control and discipline in the classroom, school premises, or during school activities.
- Employ and implement a classroom structure to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with school policies and procedures.
- Provide consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students.
- Develop and implement Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
- Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress.
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students’ progress and goals.
- Discuss students’ progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
- Employ various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
- Provide research-based, specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP.
- Coordinate the delivery of special education services in each student’s IEP.
- Supervise and mentor other teachers who work with special education students.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and social workers to accommodate students’ needs.
- Meet with parents, school administrators, and counselors to discuss updates and changes to the IEPs.
- Schedule team meetings and work cooperatively with child study team members and others to develop instructional goals and strategies.
- Collaborate and consult with educational professionals and community service providers (i.e., social services, public health, medical providers etc.) regarding the needs of students.
- Complete all district and state reporting requirements.
- Perform other comparable duties of a like or similar nature apparent or as assigned.

Math Teacher
The Math Teacher provides academic instruction and socioemotional support to at-risk youth, grades 7-12, in an alternative school setting.
In an open, small classroom environment, the Math Teacher must demonstrate a high degree of flexibility in serving the
individualized instructional needs of the students assigned to the class.
The Math Teacher must be able to work in a team environment with other educators, special education staff, counselors, and
social workers.
The Math Teacher should possess a high degree of authenticity, kindness, and empathy while effectively maintaining a classroom atmosphere conducive to academic and socioemotional growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a classroom culture where the Teacher is viewed as a “facilitator” of the learning process and not a “lecturer.”
- Plans, prepares and implements lesson plans that facilitate active learning.
- Provides personalized support to each student to develop learning plans that match each student’s needs and abilities.
- Utilizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) techniques.
- Leverages technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Develops a multi-sensory learning environment.
- Provides diverse opportunities to develop and enhance students’ social and emotional skills.
- Promotes the overall wellness (physical, mental, social, emotional) of each student.
- Assigns and grades classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
- Monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust facilitation strategies.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of students’ progress.
