Philadelphia Phillies Assist in Revamping Malvern Family’s Backyard

The Phillies teamed up with local business King Swings to gift a new backyard to a grieving family as part of the Phillies Summer of Giving.

The Philadelphia Phillies have teamed up with Parkesburg’s King Swings to gift a Malvern family a new backyard, writes staff for Phillies.com.

Brothers Ray, Sammy, and Gio Almada lost their father in 2023. The family has been supported by Peter’s Place, a family grief support agency that is a Phillies community partner.

While the team was away, volunteers from the Phillies front office surprised the Almadas with a complete backyard renovation. The makeover included a custom Phillies-themed swing set, a full Wiffle ball field, landscaping, and decoration with Phillies postseason banners.

King Swings CEO and owner Elmer King personally made the custom swing set.

The brothers also received custom Phillies jerseys from team ambassadors.

The backyard makeover comes as part of the Phillies Summer of Giving, which is presented by The GIANT Company. The Summer of Giving includes collaborations with dozens of local charities and nonprofits throughout the Philadelphia region, featuring special guests from former players to the Phillie Phanatic.

In addition to Peter’s Place, other organizations in collaboration throughout the summer include Project HOME and Temple Health.
