West Chester-Based QVC Group Names Media Veteran Alex Wellen as First Chief Growth Officer 

West Chester’s QVC Group has named media veteran Alex Wellen as its chief growth officer, to lead the company’s U.S. growth strategy.

West Chester-based QVC Group has named media veteran Alex Wellen as its first-ever chief growth officer, effective immediately, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The hire marks a shift for the home shopping company from stabilization and recovery to expanding its U.S. business. 

Wellen will lead the company’s growth efforts across social selling, streaming, digital, new business development, and platform distribution in the U.S. 

The new executive called QVC and HSN “the original disruptors” of live shopping and noted that the brands are poised to “transform the experience again across social and digital.” 

Wellen was previously president and CEO of MotorTrend Group, the largest automotive media company in the world. Before that, he held leadership roles at Turner Broadcasting and CNN Worldwide

The chief growth officer will also hold the title of president at the company. He will report directly to David Rawlinson II, QVC Group President and CEO, who recently extended his contract with the company through 2027. 

Rawlinson said that Wellen is a “pivotal hire” in the company’s ongoing growth plans.
