Sergeant Ted Lewis, of the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department, recently had an interesting day at work, writes Natasha Brown and Nate Sylves for CBS News Philadelphia.
A call came into the station regarding a loose horse that was running at 202 and 926. The horse in question was a small mare named April, who had escaped from Horse Angels Rescue farm. April had just recently been surrendered to the rescue. Unfortunately, she was able to slip through the fence and make her way towards the highway.
While it was difficult to find the horse at first, she eventually showed up just behind the police station. It was about two and a half miles from Horse Angels Rescue. Lewis and other officers were able to secure her safely.
The situation proved to be a positive experience for both Lewis and April, who instantly bonded.
“When I met the horse, it was just a sweet, sweet horse. We have some room at a farm that we’re associated with, and I just thought it would be a nice addition to our farm and our family to be able to give this little horse its forever home.” he said.
April will soon head to her new home with her forever family.
