West Chester-based Arthur Hall Insurance has been acquired by Marsh McLennan Agency, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1966, Arthur Hall offers commercial and personal lines to clients nationwide, with most of them based in Greater Philadelphia. It specializes in the life sciences, information management, nonprofit, craft beverage manufacturing, and municipal sectors.
All 44 Arthur Hall employees will join Marsh McLennan, including President Jim Denham. They will continue to operate out of their West Chester and Wilmington offices.
According to Andrew Neary, CEO of Marsh McLennan Agency’s East region, acquiring Arthur Hall expands the firm’s mid-market client reach and provides access to its expertise in life sciences, education, nonprofits, and information management. The deal also opens cross-selling opportunities, as Arthur Hall specializes in insurance but does not offer retirement or employee benefit services like Marsh.
“From a geographical footprint, [the deal provides] more capabilities, services, clients, and talent within metro Philadelphia,” said Neary.
Marsh McLennan is the largest employee benefit consultant in the Philadelphia region and the fourth-largest insurance brokerage.
