West Chester Book Store Changes Name and Location, but Still Benefits Community

Ann Marie Moore, manager and only employee of More Than Books.

A Chester County bookstore has undergone a significant business change, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.

The used book shop was previously known as Second Reading II and resided in the Parkway Shopping Center. Now, they operate under the name ‘More Than Books’ and have found a new home in Gay Street Plaza.

True to its name, the bookstore benefits the West Chester Food Cupboard.

The 29,020-square-foot store holds over 25,000 books, as well as jewelry, games, DVDs, and more.

All books are donated, with sales covering the cost of rent and miscellaneous expenses. All remaining income is given to the food cupboard as monthly donations.

“We have a very knowledgeable and helpful volunteer staff that is more than happy to help you find the book(s) you are looking for,” said Ann Marie Moore, the manager and only employee at the store. “We also have request forms that can be filled out so if that particular book or item comes in, we can hold the book or items for you.”

More Than Books is open Monday-Wednesday from 10 AM – 3 PM, Thursday-Friday from 10 AM – 4 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM – 2 PM.
