Philadelphia Eagles at the Super Bowl means pop-up profits for merchants selling Eagles merchandise in Delaware County neighborhoods, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.
Tents are showing up in the county, including one at State Road and Lansdowne Avenue in Upper Darby, set up by Chad Bowles, who arrived Tuesday from Florida.
Bowles tracks sporting events year-round, including the World Series, Super Bowl and NASCAR races. His company, Showtime Novelties, has been in Delaware County before, for the Phillies and the Eagles.
On Thursday, he featured merchandise with designs such as “It’s a Philly Thing” or “Philadelphia Conference Champions,” easing around team trademark issues but still capturing the spirit of things.
Meanwhile, C&M Sporting Goods in the Manoa Shopping Center is doing a brisk business with its Eagles gear.
“It’s going well. We just got some NFC champs hats in,” said owner Tom McCormack. “We’re awaiting Saquon Barkley jerseys that should be here next week. With the season he’s been having, he’s the big ask this year.”
McCormick said he’s able to compete with team stores and larger sporting good stores by knowing the market after 53 years in business,
