Local drumming instructor Anthony Cracchiolo has continued his yearly donations to the Coatesville Veteran’s Association Medical Center, writes Matteo Iadonisi for 6abc.
Cracchiolo has owned his drum teaching practice, Anthony C Drums, for twenty-five years. When a mentor of his was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and received support from the Coatesville VA, Cracchiolo raised money to donate a keyboard to the center.
What started as one keyboard donation soon became donations for veterans across the center, with Cracchiolo organizing donations every year on his birthday.
Cracchiolo’s students soon joined in on the project and began donating food, clothing, and monetary donations. This year, Cracchiolo hoped to raise $3,000 and ultimately donated over $6,000 to the medical center with the help of his students.
The Coatesville VA’s residential rehabilitation program provides treatment for veterans from across the country. Veterans at the center often need clothing upon arrival, making Cracchiolo’s donations invaluable to the center’s work.
He said that his lessons for his students go “Beyond drum lessons, but how to give back and how to help other people and make the world a better place.”
