Willistown Township’s M. Night Shyamalan’s New Movie Is ‘Very Scary and Hitchcockian’ Ride

The upcoming thriller Trap by Willistown Township’s M. Night Shyamalan is a “very scary and Hitchcockian” ride, said the popular director.

The upcoming thriller Trap by Willistown Township’s M. Night Shyamalan is a “very scary and Hitchcockian” ride, according to the popular director, writes Chris Compendio for the Philly Voice.

Shyamalan said his pitch for the movie was simple: “What if The Silence Of The Lambs happened at a Taylor Swift concert?”

In the film, Josh Harnett plays a father who is taking his daughter to a concert of a fictional pop star Lady Raven, played by the director’s daughter Saleka. However, the venue is surrounded by police who have organized a sting operation to capture a serial killer known as The Butcher.

Shyamalan noted that part of the inspiration for the film came from Operation Flagship, a 1985 sting where U.S. Marshals were able to lure many fugitives into a convention center by offering free NFL tickets.

However, the filmmaker also emphasized that the concert in the movie is not just something that is going on in the background.

“One of the reasons to come see the movie at the movie theater is because there’s literally a real concert that you can see nowhere except in that movie,” he said.
