Handel’s in Berwyn and Downingtown is an old standby, serving up homemade ice cream since 1945. La Michoacana Ice Cream in Kennett Square is an offshoot of the popular restaurant, Michoacana Grill. They offer over 50 flavors of ice cream, and other goodies, such as water ice and popsicles.
Gemelli in West Chester and Phoenixville is run by Italian-born chef and owner Vincenzo Tettemanti. Some of their upscale gelato flavors are raspberry-chocolate, blueberry-mascarpone, and tiramisu.
D’Ascenzo’s Gelato in West Chester started out making and selling gelato at Philly farmers’ markets fifteen years ago. Now, they own their favorite shop, working with local dairy farmers to source their milk.
