A culinary adventure that comes with a bonus of fun attractions is a win-win, and Kennett Square checks both of those boxes, writes Sue Gleiter for the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

The southern Chester County town has made the list of nine must-visit foodie towns in Pennsylvania.

Known as The Mushroom Capital of the World, Kennett Square is home to the astonishing Longwood Gardens. The indoor-outdoor wonderland comprises a stunning 1,077 acres of manicured gardens, woodlands, meadows, fountains, and exhibits.

State Street holds local shops and opportunities for numerous tasty bites. Its setting is charming.

One of its biggest draws is Talula’s Table, which offers farm-to-table sandwiches and salads, pastries, local cheeses, and prepared foods. Ice cream aficionados cannot miss a stop at La Michoacana. This gourmet parlor features surprising flavors like corn, avocado, tamarind, rice pudding, guava, and passion fruit.

Meanwhile, Portabellos of Kennett Square highlights —  what else? — mushroom specialties. The menu has delights that include roasted mushroom soup, porcini ravioli, and mushroom truffle pizza.
