Jefferson Health has received a gift from the Bruce and Robbi Toll Foundation the health system is calling “transformational,” writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The donation — the amount of which is being kept confidential — will be used to establish the Bruce and Robbi Toll Heart and Vascular Institute.
According to Jefferson officials, the new program will “change the face of cardiovascular care across the region.”
The new institute will provide infrastructure to combine all Jefferson cardiac and vascular services, including cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular medicine, and vascular surgery divisions, to “enhance collaboration among care teams, streamline the patient experience, and increase access to promising clinical trials.”
Also, the new addition will promote cross-disciplinary research and education within the entire health system.
The institute is expected to connect around 300 cardiac practitioners who care for over 10,000 patients in Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.
“The Toll family’s incredibly generous commitment will provide robust support for Jefferson’s cardiac physicians, researchers, and staff, and will help advance important work on cardiovascular disease,” said Dr. Joseph G. Cacchione, CEO of Jefferson.
