Three Chester County Restaurants Have Some of the Best Hoagies Outside Philadelphia

While Philadelphia is known for its impeccable taste in the classic hoagie, Chester County is none too shy with three of the best hoagies in the region being available around here, writes Patrick Berkery for The Keystone.

Bob’s Haven Deli in Phoenixville has been in business for over six decades and serving mouthwatering zeps all that time. This variety of hoagie is said to have originated in Norristown in the 1950s. Despite the name, a sandwich is a sandwich and Bob’s designs it the same way: a long roll, meat, cheese, onion, and tomato with a little salt and pepper.

Carlino’s Market, which has a location in West Chester, usually supplies gourmet foods and groceries. However, it’s also known for favorites such as the Old Timer. This hoagie has fried eggplant, red onion, tomato, spicy capicola, and mozzarella with balsamic vinegar.

Finally, Lorenzo’s in West Chester keeps it quick and easy with options like a BLT, Italian, or turkey hoagie. The second-generation shop also has other delicious menu items like the Nigerian. This hoagie cheese, roast beef, turkey, tomato, lettuce, and onion.
