Nottingham-based snack company Herr’s is promoting its potato chips to the esteemed role of sandwich garnish, writes Franki Rudnesky for PhillyVoice.

Sandwi-chips is a collection of condiment-flavored crisps, including mustard, ketchup, spicy pickle, and sweet onion. The spicy pickle flavor can exclusively be found in Wawa stores to top off their custom hoagies.

“When Herr’s came to us with the idea of creating Sandwi-chips, we knew Spicy Pickle would be the perfect flavor for customers to add to their hoagies,” said product manager Tammy Altman.

For those who don’t want to take the drive to your local Wawa shelf, Herr’s is selling six-packs on their website.

Herr’s is also behind the “Flavored-by Philly” contest which will release three final flavors this summer. Fans can vote on their favorite flavor. The chips are supposed to be an homage to Philadelphia businesses.
