As we dive into the spring and summer season, take a trip to these Chester County farmers markets for fresh produce, locally sourced meats, and cheeses. Shopping at these markets supports local agriculture and helps the environment, writes Ben Silver and Claire Chmiel for Main Line Today

The Downingtown Farmers Market has delicious Mexican food, wine, and fresh produce for market-goers to peruse. This market is open from April 13 and 27 from 10 AM to noon. From May to December, the market is open every Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM and has a variety of vendors and their products on display.

Some vendors include Barking Dog Farm, Sirius Mushrooms, and Vesta Kitchen. 

Phoenixville Farmers Market sets up shop among the beautiful landscape of French Creek Trail. Customers can get a dose of nature and healthy food in one trip. Local farmers and vendors come out every Saturday to sell their fresh fruits and vegetables.

The market runs from 9 AM to noon. Some of the products include berries, eggs, and fresh bread.  

West Chester Growers Market has been going strong since 1995 and brings local farmers and artisans from throughout the region. The market features traditional farmers market goodies, such as hand-picked produce, but also includes baked goods and live music.

West Chester Growers Market opens every Saturday from May to December.
