Tower Health-owned Phoenixville Hospital has new leadership, writes Donna Rovins for The Daily Local News.

Dr. Richard McLaughlin took over as the new president and CEO of both the Chester County medical facility and Pottstown Hospital on April 8.

“I am excited to be stepping into the role of president and CEO,” said McLaughlin. “I look forward to working with these two hospital staffs to achieve our vision and strategy for each hospital.”

As the new leader, McLaughlin is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of the two hospitals as well as developing a strategy for their future operations.

McLaughlin joined Pottstown Hospital in 1999. He started as an emergency medicine physician before taking on the role of chairman and medical director of emergency medicine in 2005. He was promoted to chief medical officer at Pottstown Hospital in 2015 and chief medical officer of both Pottstown and Phoenixville Hospitals in 2022.

From 2007 to 2019, he also served as president and CEO of Tri-County Emergency Physicians.

“Dr. McLaughlin has a proven reputation as a strong healthcare leader who will lead an exciting course for Phoenixville and Pottstown Hospitals,” said Michael Stern, Tower Health’s chief operating officer.
