‘Little Orange Flags,’ Short Film Shot in Phoenixville, Premiers at Film Festival
Little Orange Flags, a short film shot in Phoenixville by writer, director, and producer team Julianna and Matthew Bonifacio, premiered at the Sarasota Film Festival on April 7, writes Ben Silver for the Main Line Today.
It was filmed through their company, Lizzy & Dicky Studios.
The 17-minute coming-of-age picture tells the story of Iris, a young girl sent to live with her aunt and cousin Pruey in a seemingly idyllic country manor. The film is the debut of young actors Bella Estrada (Iris) and Bella Price (Pruey). It also stars actress Lisa Emery, of Ozark fame, as Nana.
“I’ve had films premiere before, but this one for so many reasons is so important to me,” said Julianna Bonifacio ahead of the premiere. “And I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself about it. I really want the two child actors flying in for it to be really proud of themselves and love it as much as I hope that they do.”
In addition to being shot in Phoenixville, the film relied on locals to help fill the production. This included composer Michael Bacon and costume designer Judy Gelinas, Julianna’s mother.
