Nottingham-based Herr’s has joined forces with Philadelphia’s South Fellini and Dirty Hands Studio for a new merch campaign, writes Mike Newall for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

To design merchandise based on the iconic snack brand, the creative team at South Fellini considered what their favorite potato chip meant to them and to Philadelphia as a whole.

Soon they came up with a slogan: “City of Brotherly Spud.”

The limited collection of merchandise that includes the humorous design launched earlier this week. The chip-themed duds include a T-shirt with dancing cartoon Herr’s bags, a hat sporting a Herr’s delivery truck, and a tote bag with an image of William Penn munching on chips.

The merchandise also includes brightly colored socks with the names of Herr’s best-known flavors stitched into them. The collection is available while supply lasts at South Fellini and Herr’s website.

This collaboration is part of the company’s effort to support local businesses. It grew from Herr’s Flavored by Philly contest, which features chip flavors that were inspired by local Philly-area eateries.

“We were doing the Philly Flavors and we thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to reach out to local artists and see what they could 4design,” said Bob Clark, a vice president of marketing at Herr’s.
