Coatesville native Vincent Edward Miles Jr. is a Public/Government Affairs Representative for the City of Coatesville.

As the City of Coatesville’s first-ever Public/Government Affairs Representative, some of Miles’ duties include serving as a liaison between City Council/Administration, local officials, industries, and residents; engaging with residents to attain needs, concerns, and feedback; representing the City at local and regional meetings impacting the City objectives; communicating to residents, stakeholders, and investors the City’s vision, economic development projects, problem-solving steps, and projects related to government and public affairs; working with each Council member to help shape, reform, amend, and create policy/legislation to meet the City’s objectives; managing and facilitating community projects; and rebranding the City’s vision.

Miles’ first job was at Foot Locker, and he attended Coatesville Area Senior High School. After high school, he attended Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, receiving his associate’s degree in graphic communications and printing technology. From there, he attended the First HBCU, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, where he received his bachelor’s degree, became a Keystone Honors Student, and was inducted into the Fine Arts Honors Academy.

“From there, I went to West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where I received my master’s degree in public administration,” said Miles. “I’m currently getting my doctorate in the same field at WCU.”

While Miles cannot identify any one person as having the biggest impact on his career, he states that he had an entire village of people who believed in his ability to make a difference in this world.

“As a young man, I received encouragement from various people across the U.S. stating that I would be chosen as a vessel for the Lord to win souls for the Kingdom of God,” said Miles. “This is my greatest inspiration and purpose, driving everything I do in Coatesville and beyond. I am grateful to know that Jesus supports me wherever my career takes me.”

Over the course of his career, Miles identifies his greatest accomplishment as simply being chosen to represent and serve the city he was raised in.

“Having such a big support system at home is truly my proudest accomplishment; I know they have my back regardless of the ups and downs,” he said.

Miles and the rest of the 2024 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 9 at Penn State Great Valley, Malvern.
