2024 VISTA Millennial Superstars: Michael Quinn
Downingtown and West Chester native Michael Quinn is the Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at NEXClean.
“Having been with NEXClean since its inception, I have worked in all capacities for the startup: Service Technician, Operations Director, Sales rep, Account Management, and more,” said Quinn. “Presently, I partner with various health systems throughout the country to maintain various compliances regarding cleaning and disinfection standards. I collaborate with many levels of each enterprise—from front-line workers to PhDs and C-suite executives. My Business Development position is very rewarding. I thoroughly enjoy helping people raise standards of care.”
Quinn’s first job was in the restaurant industry around the age of 14, working as a busboy at Winner’s Circle. He attended St. Joseph’s School through eighth grade and then spent his high school years at Bishop Shanahan. After high school, he attended Widener University but transferred to West Chester University after his freshman year. Quinn graduated from WCU with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
“I was a very active student-athlete and knew I wanted to stay around the game of football, so I immediately jumped into coaching and strength training at the high school level,” said Quinn. “As a full-time trainer and nutritional coach, I enhanced my credentials by obtaining various training certifications, including NASM-CPT. The lessons learned in my hospitality, coaching, and training disciplines — combined with my athletic career — have truly shaped my most leveraged ‘real-world’ strengths.”
Quinn credits his grandfather with having a profound impact on his career.
“Without his influence, I would not have the career I do,” said Quinn. “My Grandfather has impacted my professional career in ways I cannot even begin to put into words. From a firm handshake and eye-to-eye contact to respect, integrity, humility, and timely humor, his impact on my life is a daily reflection that I cherish.”
Over the course of his career thus far, Quinn is proud of putting in the work during the early years of his startup, which would pay off when NEXClean secured its first contract with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. However, his proudest moment came a few years later.
“Through sustainability, trust, and humility, our brand crossed the million-dollar revenue mark,” said Quinn. “I would consider this my proudest professional accomplishment. It was the product of total team effort, complete buy-in, and great sacrifice. To see our risk and ambition amount to a million dollars plus top line was truly the most satisfying moment for myself and our young brand.”
Quinn’s favorite Chester County restaurant is Ryan’s Pub, which has been a gathering place for his inner circle since college years.
“I worked here in my early adult years, and now my family and friends often meet here—now with our children—to break bread and enjoy our time together,” said Quinn. “I have closed deals here and added up golf scores here.”
Quinn and the rest of the 2024 Class of VISTA Millennial Superstars will be honored at the Awards Reception & Celebration on Thursday, May 9 at Penn State Great Valley, Malvern.
