Figures from the Pennsylvania State Data Center in State College show that Chester County will outpace neighboring counties in population growth over the next 25 years, writes Michael P. Rellahan for The Daily Local News.

The county is expected to see a growth in population of 6.9 percent from 2020 to 2050.

Delaware County is the only other Philadelphia suburban county that comes close to that number at 5.5 percent expected population growth over the same three decades. Meanwhile, Montgomery County, which is still the largest of Philadelphia’s collar counties, is predicted to see a growth of only 0.2 percent, and Bucks County could see a drop in growth rate of 7.5 percent.

Since the last United States census in 2020, Chester County’s population has increased from 534,413 residents to 555,744. That is a gain of 21,328 people, or 3.9 percent.

Overall in Pennsylvania, the population is expected to grow from 13.0 million in 2020 to 13.2 million in 2050, or a 1.6 percent increase over the next three decades.
