The Original Spence Cafe in West Chester has found its place on the online reservation platform OpenTable’s list of the Top 100 Restaurants in America for 2021. Laura Smythe and Andy Brownfield served up the news for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

To create the list, OpenTable analyzed more than 10.5 million reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners nationwide. The platform scanned comments, seeking praise for creative dishes, high-level hospitality, and one-of-a-kind dining experiences.

The Original Spence Cafe achieved 4.8 stars from 785 reviews.

“We always come back for The Original Spence Cafe’s hospitality, service, and exceptional food!” wrote one reviewer.

“Even in what have to be the most challenging times for restaurants, Spence Cafe has maintained the exceptional quality of the food, the creative and experimental nature of its cuisine, and the high quality of its service,” commented another.

The eatery is a BYOB restaurant that has been in West Chester since 1996. Some of the highlights on Chef Andrew Patten’s menu are his famous crab cakes and braised short ribs.
