After taking a job at Bryn Mawr College, Jeanine Molock moved to a Malvern apartment while she searched for her new home in the suburbs. She used to live in New York and moved around for a few decades.

After taking a job at Bryn Mawr College, Jeanine Molock moved into a Malvern apartment as she started her search for a new home in the Philadelphia suburbs, writes T.M. Brown for The New York Times

Molock spent three decades moving around the country before she moved back home to New York to take care of her ailing mother. She started working as an institutional research manager at LaGuardia Community College in Queens and searched for a house to buy.

However, her search was unsuccessful.

“When I returned to New York and lived in Harlem, it was not the city I left,” she said. “The areas where I grew up and frequented were no longer affordable.”

After several years, she decided to move closer to one of her sons and his pregnant wife, so she accepted the Bryn Mawr College job and rented an apartment in Malvern in the interim.

Unlike New York, she was able to immediately find several potential new homes in the region, all of which fit her budget of around $500,000. The home she opted for is close both to her work and to her future grandson.
