Devon Perry, granddaughter of Joseph Segel, founder of West Chester-based QVC, offers ideas on how to spend this Valentine’s Day.

Devon Perry, head of the Garden State Wine Growers Association and granddaughter of Joseph Segel, founder of West Chester-based QVC, believes that combining New Jersey’s Wine and Chocolate Trail Weekends is the perfect way to celebrate this Valentine’s Day, writes Julie Gordon for the New Jersey Monthly

Perry, who is a Philadelphia native, got her start in hospitality with her family, working for a restaurant database company started by her grandfather. She eventually became the company’s CEO. She grew more interested in wines while she was helping her grandfather with wine tastings.

Today, as executive director of the GSWGA, she oversees many initiatives that are aimed at local wine lovers, such as February’s Wine and Chocolate Trail Weekends.

As part of the initiative, many New Jersey wineries are joining forces with local chocolatiers to offer special flights and tastings that will be accompanied by music, outdoor fun around the fire pit, and other fun activities.

“It’s such a magical pairing, wine and chocolate,” said Perry. “Both have complex and complementary flavor notes.”
