Partners In Outreach is a 100 percent volunteer-run organization created to support the children of Chester County. There are 5 main programs throughout the year: Operation Easter Outfit, Operation Easter Basket, Summer Camp Partners, Classroom Reading Partners, and REAL Tutoring.

With each of these programs, thousands of materials are distributed including but not limited to books, clothing, water bottles, towels, and Easter baskets.

These materials are kept in a warehouse and require sorting, inventorying, and distribution. On Martin Luther King Day, 28 volunteers gather to do some of this work. 66 total service hours were completed and the impact of this service will last throughout the year.

So where do all of these supplies (now organized) go throughout the year? Let’s take a closer look at some statistics from last year.

• 1601 new Easter outfits and baskets (filled with school supplies and other practical items) were distributed to 12 different organizations
• 1800 summer camp backpacks were distributed to 19 different camps. Each pack includes a drawstring bag, a new bathing suit, a beach towel, flip-flops, and a water bottle.
• Summer Camps are provided with a library of books that students can select a book from to bring home and keep.
• 6 Schools, 45 students, participated in the REAL one-on-one tutoring. 60 volunteer tutors took part in this program.
• 2 Classrooms of 25 students each participate in group tutoring.
• Over 4,000 books were distributed

The volunteers who joined us on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service are adults, children, and young adults who are looking to lend a helping hand to their community. Many of the volunteers say they get a lot when giving back.

“I like the sense of belonging to an organization that has a purpose in helping children,” said volunteer Elieen Schiappa.
