A popular Montgomery County bakery that has been tempting taste buds since 2011 closed up shop on Thursday, Feb. 1, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.

Kriebel’s Bakery on Ridge Pike in Eagleville has been a community staple for custom cakes for birthdays, weddings, and other special occasions, but now its award-winning chef has decided to take on a teaching position at the Culinary Institute of America.

Owner and chef Colleen Kriebel, a Plymouth Meeting native, said she was ready for a new chapter in her life.

“This amazing journey could not have been possible without all of you,” she said. “I have been blessed with the opportunity to teach young, aspiring Pastry Chefs how to become successful in this industry. My love and passion for this craft will be shared with so many students for years to come, my heart is full…,” she said.

Kriebel has received local and regional accolades for her edible artistry. She also appeared on the Food Network’s Cake Wars in October of 2016.

No plans have been announced for the former home of Kriebel’s Bakery.
