Habitat for Humanity of Chester County is excited for its Annual Update Zoom meeting. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Whole Home Repair Program that is already having an incredible impact in the community.

The event will take place on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 6:30 PM and will feature presentations from Habitat’s Executive Director, Chris Wiseman, Good Works‘ Executive Director, Bob Beggs, and Good Neighbors‘ Executive Director, Harold Naylor.

The Whole Home Repair Program (WHRP), created under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, aims to assist homeowners with necessary home improvements that ensure safety and habitability, energy efficiency, and accessibility for individuals with disabilities. This program is made possible through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development as well as local support from the Chester County Department of Community Development. Fulfillment agencies, like Habitat, Good Works, Good Neighbors, and the Housing Partnership provide WHRP-approved home repair services for homeowners at no cost.

This initiative is designed to help homeowners address health and safety issues in their homes, accessibility issues for seniors and people with disabilities, and housing code violations. Providing home repairs help to alleviate substandard living conditions and preserve existing affordable housing stock throughout Chester County.

Through the Whole Home Repair Program (WHRP), Habitat recently completed a roof repair project for Bruce and Kathleen in Cochranville. Bruce said, “Many thanks to all involved — job very well done! I was able to help with the removal of the shingles from the ground into the dumpster— and I was very glad to do so! It was the very least that I could do. It has been a most satisfying procedure and everyone involved has been a pleasure to work with and most accommodating! It is with profound gratitude we say thank you!”.

Habitat envisions a world where everyone has access to safe and quality housing opportunities. Its mission focuses not only on building new homes but also renovating existing properties through initiatives like the Whole Home Repair Program. By partnering with homeowners and volunteers, Habitat helps our neighbors to build strength, stability, and independence through homeownership.
