Mow Your Yard and Your Roof at This ‘Hobbit House’ in Elverson
Have you ever wanted to live in a ‘Hobbit house’ and feel like you’re in The Shire? Well, J.R.R. Tolkien fans will love this dwelling in the hills of Elverson, writes Mary K. Jacob for the New York Post.
Built in 1988, the 4-acre property is listed for $425,000 with three bedrooms and two bathrooms; its fantasy-like designs are enough to intrigue any potential buyers. It has a distinctive round arch and practically molds to the hill it is built into. On the outside, there is grass on the roof that tapers out to the three-car garage.
On the inside, the house is a great fixer-upper. “The architecture of this home is one of a kind for this area. The home needs TLC, but the potential is immense,” reads the listing.
Windows line the walls along the living room and kitchen areas. Then, a unique wooden spiral staircase takes you upstairs to bedrooms and a deck.
The listing went viral on Facebook and many commented about its strange nature and their ideas for the grass roof. Some said it’s perfect for sledding while others imagined goats grazing on it.
