Danny Hale, a former West Chester University defensive lineman and head coach, is one of this year’s additions to the College Football Hall of Fame, writes Kerith Gabriel for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Hale and the other 21 2024 inductees will be honored on Dec. 10 during the National Football Foundation’s annual awards dinner in Las Vegas.

Hale was a standout player at West Chester and coached his Alma Mater for four seasons, from 1984 to 1988. During that time, he led the team to three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Division titles as well as the Golden Rams’ first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1988. He finished his West Chester coaching career with a 40-13 record.

“I have known Danny Hale for over 50 years, both as a coaching colleague and a friend,” said former West Chester head coach Rick Daniels. “Danny had a way of bringing out the best in his players and his coaches. This is a well-deserved honor.”

As a player, Hale helped his West Chester team reach the Citrus Bowl in 1966 and 1967.
