Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe was officially sworn in as the new Chester County District Attorney on Dec. 29, writes Michael P. Rellahan for The Daily Local News

The new District Attorney was elected by county voters in November.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by members of the D.A.’s Office, courthouse personnel, and de Barrena-Sarobe’s family members, friends, and political supporters.

During the ceremony, de Barrena-Sarobe took the opportunity to offer several promises to his constituencies, including the police, prosecutors, and the public. He committed to a partnership with the officers in the field, providing support and encouragement to the trial attorneys and staff in his office, and ensuring there is an ongoing engagement with the community.

“I promise that I will try every day to ensure that the office of the District Attorney achieves the ultimate goal of upholding the rule of law, protecting the community, and protecting our rights,” he said. “Doing this will require striking a difficult balance. But if we can all come together — police, prosecutors, and everyday people — I know we will conquer all the challenges that surely lie ahead.”
