Bucks County’s Mike Daley is the Man Behind America’s Grandest Private Whiskey Collection
Mike Daley, a Bucks County resident and multi-millionaire, possesses one of the largest private whiskey collections in the United States, writes Brad Japhne for Food & Wine. Â
His expansive estate, however, is running out of space to showcase his several thousand bottles of scotch, American, and Irish whiskies. Â
To cope, Daley has resorted to storing some bottles in unconventional places like filing cabinets and his beach house in Delaware.Â
Daley’s collection features a unique addition – a walnut-encased treasure chest from The Craft Irish Whiskey Company. This rare item includes a 30-year-old whiskey, a bespoke Fabergé egg with an emerald, a custom watch, and Cohiba cigars. Â
Only seven of these sets exist, and Daley recently purchased one for $2.8 million, potentially making it the priciest aged spirit ever, though some debate its eligibility for this title due to the accompanying luxury items.
Daley’s whiskey collection isn’t just a hobby; it reflects a strategic investment. Having previously profited from early investments in the pharmaceutical industry, he now sees Irish whiskey as a burgeoning luxury market.
Super premium Irish whiskeys have seen a dramatic increase in value, and Daley believes brands like Craft Irish will lead the market’s growth.
