Daniel Embree came to Kennett Square for love, and love he found.

Daniel Embree, the executive director of Kennett Collaborative, came to Kennett Square for romance but actually ended up falling in love with the community, writes Suzi Nash for the Philadelphia Gay News

“So like many good romance movies start, I came to Kennett Square to be with a boy,” said Embree. “But then what happened is I fell in love with Kennett Square and the boy is now long gone.”

Embree has been living in Kennett Square since 2018 and has become the town’s biggest advocate.

“It’s a great place to live, work and visit,” he said. “If you want that charming Hallmark movie vibe, just go to uptown Kennett Square on State Street. It’s a really quaint little magical, fun place.”

A positive side to the town is its inclusivity.

“Going from the city and towards the country, that’s not the first thing you think of but Kennett Square has a really wonderful LGBTQ community,” said Embree. “I have felt very welcomed and have become embedded in the community.”

Another bonus? A drag brunch at Victory Brewing “that’s really fun,” he added.
