PXV Inside Out drinking and dining series continues to draw in thousands of people to Phoenixville each weekend, but some community members are frustrated about it, writes Jesse Bunch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The popularity of Inside Out has only grown since its inception during the pandemic.

“We see residents coming down and walking into downtown, you see families, you see pets, lots of dogs, baby strollers,” said Phoenixville mayor Peter Urscheler. “And you start to see people who are visiting our community from out of town, because this has become something that’s very unique.”

Most of the businesses fully support the series and notice the uptick in traffic.

“There’s nights during the closure where we literally cannot close the door until 9:30, almost 10 o’clock, because we’ve got people in and out,” said Aaron Weitzenkorn, owner of men’s clothing shop Weitzenkorns.

But some residents and business owners are frustrated over the crowds, including former Phoenixville’s main street manager, Barry Cassidy.

“When we started the revitalization we went with an arts-and-entertainment economic development strategy,” said Cassidy. “It’s changed now to a more alcohol-based strategy.”
