Chester County welcomed 24 new citizens earlier this month when 24 people from 15 countries became citizens of the United States during a ceremony in Chester County Justice Center in West Chester, writes Holly Herman for Patch.

Coming from all over the world, including from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, they were congratulated for becoming citizens by State Rep. Chris Pielli.

“America is, was, and always will be a nation of immigrants,” said Pielli. “I’ve always been proud of my immigrant roots. If you would see my family, you would get a snapshot of diversity in America.”

After the new citizens were sworn in, the League of Women Voters offered them a chance to register to vote.
