For Partners in Outreach, the Laughs 4 Literacy event is critical for funding their work throughout the year. The organization’s goals to close the literacy gap, and provide supplies for summer camps and Easter festivities rely on the success of L4L.

The event was held in a new venue this year. People’s Light brought new energy to the night with their beautiful grounds and accommodating staff. Cocktail hour was held in the beautiful Farmhouse at People’s Light. The theme was “Where the Wild Things Are,” and student volunteers from Villa Maria Academy High School dressed in costumes to sell raffle tickets.

Raffle items included a beautiful diamond necklace donated by Kaplans Fine Jewelry, a $1000 American Express Gift Card, $425 worth of restaurant gift cards donated by Pietro’s Prime, Kimberton Inn, Two Birds Cafe, and White Dog Cafe, and $100 worth of PA lottery tickets. There were also over 2 dozen auction items including signed sports memorabilia, golf rounds at local and destination courses, and even some family vacations.

After cocktail hour, the fun moved to the main stage at People’s Light where Eagles Insider, Dave Spadaro, hosted the evening. He even passed around his NFC Championship and Super Bowl rings for guests to try on and photograph. Comedian Daniel Tirado then took the mic to warm up the sell-out crowd. Finally, the headlining act, celebrity comedian Tom Cotter delivered his witty one-liners and spoke of coming in 2nd place to a dog on America’s Got Talent.

It was a night of laughter and generosity! The real winners, however, are the children who will benefit throughout the year with increased distribution of books, Easter baskets, new outfits, and summer camp supplies.
