Seven Chester County Places Rank Among Top 50 Towns with Highest Work From Home Jobs in Pennsylvania
The pandemic forced many Pennsylvanians to switch to remote work in 2020, but close to ten percent of the state’s workforce were still working from home in 2021, writes Chris Ullery for the Philly Burbs.
According to census data, around 280,415 people worked from home in 2018. That total rose by close to 115 percent in 2021 to more than 603,000 working from home.
While Philadelphia saw the largest increase, many other local places saw huge bumps in their at-home workers. Seven Chester County places ranked among the top 50 towns with the biggest increases in work-from-home jobs in Pennsylvania.
Tredyffrin Township came highest at No. 17. The town recorded approximately 1,535 more employees working remotely in 2021 than in 2018, bumping its work-from-home workforce from four percent to ten percent.
West Whiteland also made the top 20 at No. 19 with a work-from-home increase of 1,477 employees.

- 19. West Whiteland (1,477)
- 30. Phoenixville Borough (1,315)
- 31. West Goshen Township (1,299)
- 36. West Bradford Township (1,238)
- 42. East Goshen Township (1,146)
- 49. Uwchlan Township (1,115)
