Enduring Lyme Disease, Phoenixville Woman Improves Quality of Life with Holistic Healing
After decades of her weight yo-yoing, Tara Watson, of Phoenixville, managed to lose 40 pounds for good and improve her quality of life significantly by focusing on her overall wellness, writes Stephanie Thurrott for Today.
The 51-year-old Watson lost and regained weight several times since her twenties.
“I was focused on food restriction and calorie counting,” she said. “I wasn’t really paying attention to overall wellness.”
Then a long-undiagnosed battle with Lyme disease helped her change her way of thinking.
“It is a tough shift when you focus your whole life on weight, to let that go and say, ‘There’s something more important — that’s choosing to live my life every day in a healthy lifestyle, not in a diet lifestyle,” she said.
When her disease was finally diagnosed in 2019, she started her holistic healing along with the treatment she needed. She focused on things she could do to take control of her health, like movement, energy, sleep, stamina, and mental health.
Now, despite weighing more than when she thought she was fit, she is much healthier and has more energy and stamina.
“I’m stronger than I was,” she said.
