Those who are looking to upgrade their wine game can now organize wine tastings at their own homes with the help of West Chester-based Sommsation, writes Kristen Schott for Philadelphia Magazine.

The company will send a sommelier to your gathering to guide you and your guests through sips from one of the more than 30 of its partner wineries, from Napa to Argentina.

You choose a date, drink, and guest count and the company will match you with an in-the-flesh expert. You can also scope out sommeliers close by, since seven are in the Philadelphia area, and decide who you want based on their profiles.

“I call it online dating for wine,” said lead sommelier Elyse Lovenworth.

You will consult with the expert on suggested wines. Lovenworth, for example, is especially excited about the offerings from Authentique Wine Cellars in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

“It’s pinot noir but with a lot of personality,” she said.

You can also choose a tasting style, opting for something academic or an elevated dinner party. The bottles for the tasting will be delivered to your home and your sommelier will show up on the day to lead the event.
