Penn Township Sports Park Hits the Ground Running with Next Phase of Construction
Penn Township is moving forward with the next phase of construction of the Penn Township Sports Park, writes Marcella Peyre-Ferry for the Chester County Press.
Penn Township Board of Supervisors voted to award the contract to Kinsley Construction of York, a low bidder, for $5,899,856. Construction should start in mid-March next year and is expected to last 12 months.
Another construction is also in the works in the township. Advertising for bids for the construction of a new emergency operations center will soon start. The building at the township property at 863 W. Baltimore Pike will be the new home for Medic 94.
The bid specifications will include extra items that could be deducted from the contract if the bids are too high. These include sections of the lighting, the generator, and whether there will be an EV charger station.
“We just want the ability, if the price comes in high, we have some numbers we can take out without having to negotiate,” said township engineer Dennis O’Neill. “I want to have the ability on bid day to take some things out if we have to.”
