There is a lot happening at golf clubs across Chester County currently, from renovations to updates to changes in ownership, writes Jim Finnegan for the Main Line Today.
Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern is poised to be in perfect shape this summer. The club is preparing to host the Philadelphia PGA’s Silvercrest Cup in August. The recommendations for course changes by architect Gil Hanse have been completed, including a new irrigation system, new bunkers, and extended championship tees on six holes, among other things.
Meanwhile, members of Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester will get to enjoy upgrades to the bar, seating, and cooking areas. Additionally, the club is also adding an 18-hole putting course.
Finally, the former site of Loch Nairn Golf Club in Avondale has been acquired by New Garden Township. Current plans are to use the property as a passive recreation park, with more details due to be available soon.
