French Creek State Park is one of the best places in Pennsylvania to check out fall foliage.

One of the best places in Pennsylvania to take in autumn scenery while soaking up fresh air is French Creek State Park in Elverson, writes Beth Price-Williams for Only In Your State.

While the enchanting park is beautiful all season, it is absolutely magical during the fall.

The park covers 7,730 acres and is the “largest block of contiguous forest between Washington D.C. and New York City,” according to its website.

It features over 15 trails that range from easy to difficult and promises that every visitor can find the right adventure level for them. Those who feel like a leisurely walk through the woods can take on the 2.5-mile Hopewell Lake Loop. Those looking for more of a challenge will not go wrong with the six-mile Mill Creek Trail.

The park offers a great opportunity to catch a glimpse of local wildlife, including deer, raccoons, squirrels, and songbirds. If you are hoping to take in unique views of the landscape, go boating on one of the park’s two lakes — Hopewell and Scotts Run.
