Ann Carozza, a West Chester University graduate and former swimming sensation, is among the national Top 30 honorees for the 2023 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, according to a staff report from SwimSwam.

The award was established in 1991 and it is rooted in Title IX. It recognizes female student-athletes who have completed their undergraduate studies and excelled in their community, sports, and academics during their college years.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 30 incredible student-athletes who surpassed the standard of excellence on their campus, in their community, and on their teams,” said Renie Shields, chair of the Woman of the Year Selection Committee.

Carozza won two NCAA Division II national championships. She won victories in the 200-yard butterfly in both 2022 and 2023. She is also the holder of the Division II record in both the 100-yard butterfly at 52.06 seconds and the 200 butterfly at 1:55.98. At the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championship, she led her team to a fifth-place finish.

This is the third time in four years that West Chester University has its representative among the top 30.
