Tommy Janton has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in June.

Kennett Square resident Tommy Janton, a junior at Salesianum School in Wilmington who has already won a pair of state titles, has committed to continuing his swimming career at the University of Notre Dame, writes Chandler Brandes for Swimming World magazine.

“As a student-athlete growing up, I couldn’t think of any other school more than Notre Dame that I wanted to attend for my swimming and academic careers,” said Janton. “I look forward to doing my part for the Fighting Irish!”

The talented Janton specializes in the backstroke and butterfly and represents the Western Family YMCA in Newark, Del., on the club circuit. In November, he secured his place at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials that will be held in June in Omaha.

As a sophomore at Salesianum, Janton won the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter backstroke at the championship of the Delaware Association of Independent Schools.
